Meet Our 2021 Intern Class

July 2021 — By Harbor View Advisors

We are excited that our 2021 Summer Internship Program afforded 7 students the opportunity to join us back in the office for hands-on M&A deal team and research experience. Our summer interns always bring a fresh perspective and new energy to the firm.

Through the course of our 8-week program, interns participate in weekly lunch and learn sessions, community involvement activities, live client engagements, industry research projects, financial modeling, and various other projects.

Meet Our 2021 Class:

Alex Maniatis – University of Virginia, Class of 2022

What were you were most excited about experiencing/learning before joining the team?

I was most excited about diving into a new space where I had never received any formal training. Looking at companies from the investment banking side has been very interesting.

Bernard Neret – Florida State University, Class of 2020 (December)

What are you most excited about for the remainder of your time at Harbor View?

I am excited about getting to learn from the team. Everyone has had different experiences in various fields and is always eager to offer up advice when asked. Each individual has something to teach and I'm excited to learn as much as I can from them while I'm here.

Daniel Kim – Georgetown University, Class of 2022

What has been your favorite part of the internship so far?

My favorite part of the internship has been the community of Harbor View Advisors. Everyone has a very strong familial connection, which is even permeated between the fellow interns.

Katherine Carlo – University of Florida, Class of 2022

What has been the most interesting thing you've learned so far?

I’ve enjoyed learning about the wide variety of financial services careers that Jacksonville has to offer. Through weekly lunch and learns, I discovered private equity, hedge fund, and wealth management opportunities in Jacksonville. Additionally, these discussions enabled me to foster my appreciation for the diverse career paths available in the financial services sphere.

Kelly Brassington – Jacksonville University, Class of 2021

What are you most excited about for the remainder of your time at Harbor View?

I am excited to continue working with my team on the Industrial Tech team vertical launch, including content for potential publication in the company’s blog, I feel this allows creativity to step in and adds a layer of created interest within our assigned vertical.

Matthew Iftime – University of South Carolina, Class of 2021

How has this experience helped with your career progression?

This experience has been beyond helpful for my career progression! I've been fortunate to have spent some time interning on the buy-side and now working with Harbor View, I have been able to experience the sell-side within the tech ecosystem. Pursuing a career in M&A aligns with my career goals and Harbor View has allowed me to recognize that.

Shaan Patel – University of Florida, Class of 2022

What has been the most interesting thing you've learned so far?

It has been great to learn about the lower-middle market and the types of companies that fall into each of HVA's verticals. The most interesting thing I have learned is from a conversation with Doug Moffitt. He explained how companies are valued in the market by the confidence of the velocity and sustainability of their growth. While one may be greater than the other, there is a balance that makes a company trade for higher multiples and helps them avoid becoming vulnerable to cyclical trends.
