2023 was a rough year for FinTech M&A enthusiasts. Transactions were down 28% YoY. However, Q4 may mark the turn with deal count rising sequentially for the first time in two years. Despite the slowdown, 2023 had its moments. The dominant FinTech companies acquired their way to market share gains and revenue stream diversification. Global regulatory shifts sparked compliance-related deals and AI is poised to have an outsized impact on the stodgy financial service markets.
